Welcome to Cafe de Bakkal, a cozy haven nestled in the heart of Lefkoşa at İsmail Beyoğlu Sk 18. This charming café expertly blends a rich sense of local history with a commitment to artisan flavors, creating an inviting atmosphere that beckons to both locals and travelers alike.

As you step inside, the warm, nostalgic ambiance envelops you, reminiscent of a time when the space served as a bustling shop. With tales woven into its very walls, it's easy to see why Des Brittain fondly recalls the moments spent just above the café, making waves at the nearby RAF Roundel Club years ago. This nostalgia combined with a contemporary touch makes Cafe de Bakkal a local gem worth visiting.

The café is renowned for its homemade burgers, widely regarded as some of the best in town. Picture sinking your teeth into a freshly grilled patty, perfectly seasoned and nestled between fluffy buns, served with a side that promises to complement every bite. Alp Korhan echoes this sentiment, endorsing the burgers as a “definite try.” But the menu doesn’t stop there; the offerings are tailored to please diverse palates, ensuring everyone leaves satisfied.

If you're after a unique and genuinely artisan experience, Nevzat Barcin confirms that Cafe de Bakkal is “simply the best.” The attention to detail in each dish showcases the café's commitment to quality and excellence. The friendly staff further enhance the dining atmosphere, making you feel at home while you indulge in their culinary delights.

Whether you’re settling in for a casual brunch or a relaxed evening meal, Cafe de Bakkal offers a perfect setting for gathering with friends or enjoying a quiet moment solo. The aural backdrop of upbeat conversation, along with the tantalizing aromas wafting from the kitchen, creates an unmatched vibe that invites you to linger just a little longer.

In summary, Cafe de Bakkal isn’t just a café; it’s a cherished slice of Lefkoşa’s fabric, where history meets vibrant culinary creativity. Don’t miss your chance to experience this haven yourself and indulge in some of the finest homemade creations in the area!

Our family used to live above that cafe 53 years ago. It was a shop then. We used to walk around the corner to swim every day at the RAF Roundel Club which is now derelict and abandoned in no mans land. You can look down onto the empty pool from the flats. A Turkish man called Sammidye ran the shop.
